May 2006: Flower Council of Holland : Berries Florist of Skipton could be the best florist in the country

Berries Florist of Skipton have successfully completed round one of a competition to find the best floristry shop in Great Britain achieving a prestigious silver award in the process.

As only one of a number of nationwide florists who achieve the required standard for the silver award they had to demonstrate knowledge, expertise and understanding in several key areas.

Owner Elizabeth Ayrton said "the whole team is delighted to have got this far, the questions were very tough and it's motivating to know we're getting it right. I hope it raise our profile and will give our customers extra confidence they need to place their needs in our hands." The winning shop will win £5,000 and the prestiguious title of Flower Shop of the Year 2006. Those who rise to the challenge of mystery shoppers and phone calls will be eligible to achieve the Gold Award.

"Someone has to win, and there's no reason why it can't be us", adds Elizabeth, " we're determined to give our customers the best in service and give the awards our best shot now we've gone this far."
